The Chicago Center for Literature and Photography is proud to announce its first major fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, February 4th, 6 to 10 pm, in the historic Walter William Fenn House in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood (5638 S. Woodlawn Ave.), home of the Southside Hub of Production community and cultural center. Centered around the recent release of the deluxe illustrated edition of The New York Stories, by Ben Tanzer with Laura Szumowski, event-goers will enjoy an hour-long multimedia performance from the book in this Victorian mansion's original library, featuring top spoken-word performers and musicians from around the city, preceded by a reception in the grand hall featuring free spirits and gourmet appetizers. Each couple will then go home with a copy of The New York Stories, a $75 value on its own; and while there, CCLaP will also be organizing a walk-around outdoor tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House, located just one block away at the edge of the University of Chicago campus. Dress is creative-cocktail, and invitees are encouraged to put together particularly unique outfits.
Tickets are $100 per couple and can be purchased right now, via the Paypal link below. For any questions or to learn more, please feel free to email Jason Pettus directly at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com. This will be a one-of-a-kind event and a truly memorable evening, so please don't miss it if you have the chance.
